Password Power Authentication Plug-In for Lotus Notes (APN) eliminates Notes ID file password management by enabling Notes client access to Lotus applications through authentication against LDAP directories (e.g. Microsoft Active Directory, Sun ONE LDAP, IBM Tivoli Directory Server, OpenLDAP, and Novell eDirectory), freeing end-users and administrators from dealing with the time-intensive password maintenance and recovery tasks for the Notes ID.
APN removes the need for separate passwords for Lotus Notes (including the Notes ID file), iNotes, and Domino Internet applications. When an end-user logs in, APN serves as a gatekeeper for the Notes ID. APN automatically recovers the Notes ID password by simply resetting the end-user's password for Microsoft Active Directory, Sun ONE LDAP, or Novell eDirectory. If they forget this password, a simple reset by the administrator immediately restores their access.
